Prayer request from Heather Handspiker

Heather Handspiker is travelling today be with her mother and her mothers friend who is in need of an urgent spot in the hospital for the removal of his gall bladder.  It is complicated by his COPD and he is very ill.  Please pray for a miracle.

Also, pray for strength for Heather as she is dealing with a cold and is not in feeling well.

Gary Harker - Update

Gary and Josephine Harker want to send thanks and praise for all the prayers that went out for Gary. He had his surgery on his appendix and everything went well.  He is home recovering now. 

Richard Williams

Please keep Richard Williams in your prayers.  He has been diagnosed with esophagus cancer.  He is at home and family is caring for him.  We know that our God is BIG and can do all things.  Pray for peace and strength for Richard and his family.

Update - Gary Harker

Gary is happy to report that his tests have come back - and no cancer was found!  Praise the Lord

He is so grateful for the prayers from the church family.  Please keep praying as he now needs to still have his appendix removed.

Christine Bowerman recovering after surgery - UPDATE

Christine underwent partial mastectomy this week after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She is recovering at home and doing "much better than I anticipated", in her own words.  Please keep her in prayer over the coming weeks and if you are willing to assist with a meal, please let us know.

Update - October 24th, 2016

Christine is going back in for surgery November 4th for a full mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes.  She will be then be doing chemo and radiation.  She appreciates all of your prayers and support.  
Let's continue to pray for Christine and her family.

Condolences to the Adamski Family

Pray - Gary Harker

Please remember Gary Harker in your prayers.  He needs to have his appendix removed and they will be doing a biopsy to check for cancer.  He was due to have the surgery over the weekend - we will update as information becomes available.

Gary is still awaiting surgery.  He is at home - please pray that the surgery will happen soon as he is very uncomfortable with the pain.

Urgent Prayer Request

Richard Williams (Connie Valdron's father) was rushed to hospital yesterday and underwent exploratory surgery. They are continuing to run tests trying to verify what exactly is wrong. Please keep Richard, the Williams family, and the Valdron family in your prayers.

Prayer for Cathy Wilson's Brother In Law

We received the following message from Cathy Wilson this morning:

I'm requesting prayer from church family for my brother-in-law Alan in Summerside, PEI; and my sister Donna and their daughter Denise. Alan suffered a stroke at 3:30 am this morning and was rushed to hospital. He is 56. He was paralyzed on the right side with no speech when he presented at hospital. He is self-employed and the sole bread winner. So he needs a miracle in his body and financially. 

Let's stand with Cathy in prayer for this family situation.

TUESDAY PM UPDATE:

Doctor's discovered that it was not a stroke but an aneurysm and the news was not good.

WEDNESDAY PM UPDATE:

The family were gathered at the bedside as Dr's didn't expect Alan to make it through the night. So it was a long night waiting for news.  But in the morning I woke to news that he was still alive. HALLELUJAH! Today Dr's will do a brain scan to see if bleeding has stopped and to see what areas the bleeding has seeped to.
Also they will put in a feeding tube. They were encouraging my sister not to put in tube as they still say he may not survive. But my sister is adamant the tube is going in despite that the Dr's feel he will be a vegetable if he survives. 

Last night he motioned with his left arm that he was cold and wanted the blankets pulled up. This morning the report from my niece says that Alan is aware of his surroundings, can understand what you are saying, and even moved his left side to aid nurses in changing the sheets. Please continue to pray that the bleeding will stop, and that everyday he will continue to improve. Believing for a good report from the brain scan, and also thanking God for a financial miracle for this family. Nothing is impossible with our God, absolutely nothing.

FRIDAY UPDATE:

A bed in the stroke unit in Charlottetown has become available and they are taking Alan by ambulance today. It is an hour away from my sister so the driving and gas in their old truck will be taxing, but she would drive to the ends of the earth to be next to him. Everyone is very happy at this report. This morning he was sitting up in bed with assistance, watching tv with the remote in his working hand!

Thank you Lord for your wonder working power in Alan's life. We pray that the staff and therapists in Charlottetown are Christians and Alan and Donna will accept your free gift of Salvation. And we believe for a quick recovery time in rehab in Jesus' Name. 

UPDATE, TUESDAY, AUG 30

We've just received the following email from Cathy:

I just received devastating news regarding my brother-in-law Alan.
He has had a cough for some time, so they did further scans and they revealed cancer throughout his body. Brain, lungs and kidneys are the main areas. He has been a smoker since a very young age. The brain bleed was a result probably of the tumors in his brain. It is very hard to know what to pray at this point other than God's will be done. Please pray for my sister Donna who is devastated beyond words. Pray that this family come to know Jesus.  I will praise the Lord in and and out of the Storm.

Passing of Maybell Herman

Urgent Prayer request - Pelley family

Emily Pelley has given us an urgent prayer request.  

Marie Pelley's aunt has just been given 2 weeks to live.   It is rather sudden and this is a difficult time for their family. Her aunts name is Maybell Herman.   Please uphold her and the entire Pelley family in prayer as they navigate this next couple of weeks.

Marilyn Slawter prayer request

Marilyn has been seriously ill, although there's been some issues actually diagnosing what's happening.  She's having severe vertigo symptoms,  including nausea and inability to walk correctly.  Latest information was that she's suffering from an intense inner ear infection.  Please pray for complete and total recovery for her in the name of Jesus.

Larry Beaton's Brother, Dave Having Liver Transplant

Please keep Larry's brother,  Dave in prayer.  He's from Newfoundland and is flying to Halifax for a liver transplant, including the bike duct tubes.  He's only been on the list for 6-8 weeks.  Pray for complete and total recovery in Jesus' name!

Lillian Dyer

Please lift Lillan Dyer in prayer as she has a tumor in her left ear from the nerve to her brain.  It has already caused some hearing loss.  Her prayer is that the tumor stops growing and that at her next appointment she can give the praise to the Lord!  Let's stand in agreement with Lillian!

Pray for Bill - Jackie Lowe's father

Please keep Jackie Lowe and her family in your prayers as she has traveled to Ontario to be with her father Bill who recently had a massive stroke. He currently is in the hospital and recovering.  Pray for his complete healing.

In Memory of Estella Harding

Our heartfelt condolences go to Linda Birk on the passing of her mother Estella "Stella" Harding.  She passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16th at the age of 95.  Please click here for the link to her obituary.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 19 from 4-8pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth The funeral service will take place at 11am on Wednesday July 20 in the funeral home chapel with a reception to follow. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Halifax.

Olga Hawes Request

Pray for Olga Hawes, who is going through recovery of a broken wrist. After 8 weeks, she gets her arm/wrist cast off next Thursday and she needs prayer that all will go well after it is removed.  

Also pray that her hemoglobin levels, which have been quite low will be elevated to a normal level. 

We have a big once in a lifetime family reunion coming up on my dad's side  on the 28th and they really want mom there.   We need prayer that she will be strong enough to go.  

Hope Langille - Halifax Infirmary

Please keep Hope Langille in your prayers.  She was taken into the Halifax Infirmary on Tuesday night as a result of a shoulder injury.  She did not fall - however in just doing a regular daily task her shoulder has "crumbled".  The doctors have decided to place it in a sling and let it heal over the next 6 weeks. She is on pain meds as it is a very painful situation.   She will be in the hospital until they feel she can manage again and is out of pain.   Let's pray for a speedy recovery of our dear sister.

Urgent Prayer for Linda Birk's mother

Linda Birk's mother who is 95 has been hospitalized for pneumonia.  She is improving but still extremely weak,  Doctor's are having trouble determining proper meds.  Pray for proper diagnosis, treatment, and peace and freedom from discomfort.

Celebration of Life Service - Gordon Lewis

Our condolences go out to Susan on the passing of her husband Gordon Lewis on Saturday evening. The Celebration of Life Service will be held this Wednesday, July 6th at 7 pm here at Rock Church.  

Our church family is asked to bring sweets or sandwiches for the reception to follow in the Family Life Centre.  They may be dropped off from 6:30 - 6:55 at the glass doors of the Family Life Centre before you attend the service.  

Prayer for Bonnie's sister

Bonnie Boutilier is writing to us ... 

"My sister Darlene who just turned 58 last week has been told she has cancer, they know it is in her hip & pelvic area but say there is another site that it has traveled from.They haven't found out where yet,waiting for more test.She had breast cancer 12 years ago with a double mastectomy. She hasn't been well for over a year and are just now finding the cause. She is not saved but has heard over & over the salvation message .I am asking the church to pray for her salvation and healing."

Update on Gord Lewis

Due to the lack of brain activity, the decision has been made to remove Gord from life support within the next 48 hours. Understandably, Susan is shaken by this news. Please pray for her.

Gord Lewis suffered heart attack

Please keep Gord Lewis in prayer as he suffered a heart attack last evening. The outlook is grim because he was out of oxygen for more than 10 to 15 minutes. We prayed with Susan, placing him in the Lord's hands and now we wait confidently and expectantly for good news. As of the last update, Gord was not yet breathing on his own. We will keep you updated as we are receiving updates. Also please keep his wife, Susan in prayer during this time.

Prayer Request from Blair

We are in day 2 of a camp in the village of Green Field. There's a witch in the village trying to shut down the camp with the excuse of calling inspectors about us serving bad food. ( We aren't.). Please pray the next 3 days will be a glory to God in this community and that the dark powers will be pushed back. Also that those of us putting on the camp (dvbs) will be strengthened and protected. Thanks.

Kerry Andrews Update

As most of you know, Kerry Andrews, A wife and mother in our church family has been having this serious struggle with her health for the last number of months.

Just an update on my diagnosis - at this point they have diagnosed me with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).  The syndrome is rare and there is no cure, they try medications to manage the symptoms.  I am still not working.  It's been a very difficult 5 months - my faith has been tested for sure.

Earthquake in Ecuador

Good morning everyone,

As you've likely heard in the news, there was a strong, 7.8 earthquake last night in Ecuador. 

Initial reports say 77 people have been killed and 588 injured. 

Mark Miller spoke with one of World Vision's staff last night who told me there are some buildings down in the town but the ADP is ok. This was the initial update that I received soon after the earthquake struck, so let's continue to pray that the children and families in Santa Ana, the community that Rock Church & EBC support,  remain safe. 

World Vision continues to work in the country & will liaise closely with government  on response.

Update on Ernie Hunt

Erne's toe was removed on Wednesday and he's doing well,no sign of infection so will be sending him home tomorrow.

Passing of Nicole Doucette's Aunt

Nicole Doucette's aunt who was suffering with the brain tumor passed away early this morning.

Prayer Requests this Holy Week 2016

A very good friend of our Rock Church family phoned this week requesting prayer.

Donna Morgan (Evan Morgan's wife), both who attended Rock Church for many years in the early days, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She is requesting for anyone and everyone to pray for her complete healing. She is building a huge network of prayer warriors and is asking that anyone who is a part of our prayer would come into agreement with her.

Our friend, JB Robertson, is in hospital, following a heart attack. We would ask that you would join us in prayer for his full and complete recruit free and for his family as well.

Request from Arlene Marchand

Arlene is asking that we pray for a man named Jean Seibert who lives in Ontario. He is the father-in-law of a close friend of hers. He has suffered a heart attack and is need of a miracle. Neither he nor the family knows the Lord but are asking for prayer, so we're believing with Arlene for the Lord to move within this family and meet them in a real way.

Prayer for Nicole Doucette's family

Nicole writes today ...

"I have two aunts fighting cancer. (My moms oldest and youngest sister)

Agnes - finished her chemo treatments but Drs decided radiation would be next. She'll undergo 15 (approx) rounds. Cancer is in her stomach.

Eileen - There isn't much more they can too. She's immunocompromised and another surgery isn't an option and another radiation round would be too much. She went into cardiac arrest yesterday, fluid around her heart. BP was up and down and her sugar levels were out of whack. She was resuscitated and is now in stable condition in the hospital. She hopes to go home Friday, however they have signed a DNR. Cancer is in her brain (and possible spine and lung.)"

Our God is an amazing God - he can step in and do the miraculous in both these lives.  Let's believe with Nicole and also pray for peace in these situations.

Gwen M. Diagnosed With COPD

The following prayer request was received by our sister, Gwen MacFarland...

About a year ago I was diagnosed with COPD, and shortly afterwards sleep apnea. In the natural this is not good. I have been trusting in God and praying for healing. In December, 2015 I started to get chest infections, often one after another. I have had several

antibiotics without results. Right now I have a lot of trouble breathing and just getting something to eat leaves me breathing really hard. I do not go out much and haven't even been to church for awhile, which I do not like. 

I am asking for my church family to remember me in their prayers. In reality I can not let myself dwell on this because there is no cure . There are other things associated with this as well, chronic cough, sleepless nights, etc. But God is my healer and His mercy and grace are new every day.

"I have a small lump on the bottom of my foot and after seeing two Drs and getting two second opinions it turns out it is a cyst. There is no pain associated with it and I can still do normal things. I am asking for prayer because it needs to go away or there will be two different treatment options steroid injections or surgery. Thank u"

Jeannie W. brothers passing

Jeannie Williams writes us ...

"Brother Dave passed peacefully in palliative care in Sydney wed night. During his fight it was evident that The Lord had his hand on Dave.  We saw this so many times right from the beginning of the battle to his last few days. God blew us all away in Dave's final days when he was taken off life support  - doc/staff in ICU didn't expect him to last longer than an hour since he hadn't had any of his own breaths showing on ventilator for awhile. Our father showed me that it was His breath in his lungs and that His timing is perfect.During that short time another two miracles occurred. As a friend recently said, "There's miracles in the waiting." One thing I can be sure of, Dave is resting with his saviour and that his testimony will live on through his family and friends. Thank you for standing and believing for brother Dave. He's was so humbled by Gods love that was shown through His people."

Good news...I was released from hospital Saturday (9 days in)...much too well to be there anymore...there's a time & place for everything;-) God gave several Divine appointments while in there.

Rebecca and I are grateful for the prayer and support. God has been (and is) very present at many levels!

The next while will be taken slow and easy with a lot of follow-up, but by God's abundant grace I'm here ticking & kicking to press on in whatever the LORD has in store--be that little or much.

On Boxing Day, Jeannie W. headed to Cape Breton to be with her brother, Dave, and his family. She sent this email:

Heading to CB, Dave is being transferred to Sydney intensive care, it doesn't  look good. Blood pressure is dropping and fever, Lungs rattling etc. could be pneumonia. be  Once again by sight it doesn't look good but we will not go by we see. He is in the Lords Hands!  Please pray for wisdom for medical people and peace for Dave and Lisa and that God protects Dave right now and brings him through this. Thanks so much for your prayers.
